For the Arcam fan who is open to open box from a credible seller.
AA has the AVR11 for $1445 after 15% discount code OPENBOX15.
7 internal/11 processing, includes Dirac Live & lifetime support.
I meant the retail price of 3k. Plenty of old corollas out there for that.
It was also meant as a joke, but clearly my original ask for information wasn't appreciated based on the feedback…
There are all levels of audio equipment and the $500 AV receivers you apparently are used to are at the low end of the cost spectrum. There are amps and receivers that are priced at much higher price points than the retail price of this unit. Just like there are speakers that are $100 a pair and then B&W Nautilus and Kef Muons that are over 6 figures. And those are just examples I can think of; there are many others out there. To each their own and for some, this receiver is a great buy.
Yes, but you said you meant $3K retail. The Yamaha I linked to is >$3.5K retail and regular price is $3K.
You bash the Arcam price being absurdly expensive and make a comment about run of the mill Yamahas yet they (Yamaha) are even more expensive. The sale price you linked to is still more expensive than this Arcam. Your comment (joke) about just knowing about run of the mill Yamaha's makes no sense.
I wish some manufacturer would just offer a surround pre pro, without built in amplifiers. The built in amps for the most part a just junk. There are a lot of us that already have mid to high end amps, and just need a pre pro, at a reasonable price.
1kHZ @ 0.2% THD for the amp section on this deal, is really pretty poor.

Agreed the amp section is pretty weak. Even my nearly 20 year old $2k Rotel RSX-1067 had a true 100 W/channel (7 channels driven). The original Arcam MSRP of $3k doesn't seem to get you much these days!

I am familiar with the run of the mill Yamaha receivers but I may be out of my depth with this.
I'm not buying any used car for $1500. Certainly not one that I plan on driving more than a few blocks anyway.

You usually don't see a name like Arcam discounted very much from normal dealer pricing so this is a deal if you're looking for a high-end receiver.
Is it your best option? Maybe, maybe not. The Dirac Live is a nice addition though it's available in other receivers as well.

If you buy this for Dirac, just don't. Dirac support appears to have dropped off the face of the Earth for Arcam owners!

Why is a Yamaha receiver better than the built in speakers in your tv?
If you can make that jump, I have faith you can figure out why this could be better than Yamaha
