I play the Tour S and really like them. Coming from Callaway Supersoft, I get much more distance off of these balls and a lot more check on the greens.
The new version Kirkland balls are awesome. People hating either don't know how to judge golf balls, or are just plain haters. Yes they spin more than some other balls. But for many people, this is a good thing. Most guys with handicaps above 10, can't spin the ball enough anyway. I see a couple of my playing partners overshooting their chips and short wedge shots everytime we play. Some extra spin will help these people.

I was thinking the same thing. A lot of amateur golfers playing hollow body irons with lower lofts could use some spin.
Can anyone recommend the better one to get between the tour and tour x version?
I'm about 95-100mph swing speed with driver. Looking for more stopping power on approach shots.
You most likely either want the tour x or tour s. If you like a firmer ball that spins more, tour x. If you like a softer ball without sacrificing a ton of distance, tour s. I play the tour x, except in very windy conditions.

So many good cheap balls these days. Legato is a surprise winner. I used to play a mix of Bridgestone, Titleist prov1 and Snell but I swapped out Snell for Legato. I mainly play prov1 on courses without a lot of forced carry hazards due to them being $8 a ball.

Those irons are designed to use height/descent angle in place of spin to get the ball to stop. If you pair a very spinny ball with them, you're still going to hit it just as high. So, sure, it will stop quicker but it's also going to fly a lot shorter.

Any urethane ball will spin plenty on wedge shots. Where the Kirkland balls are punitive is off the tee and full iron shots. Objectively, the Kirkland balls will cost practically every golfer some distance on those shots. How much that matters to somebody will differ, but most golfers aren't struggling with an abundance of distance.
