I still feel like them marketing these products as whole home backup replacement for generator power is kinda scummy, just like a lot of the solar installers. They tell people their batteries will last them days and they end up lasting a few hours.
This is a great price considering Costcos return policy. Ecoflow don't have the best support. You might be able to get an inverter and 1 battery cheaper elsewhere online depending on your state sales tax rules, I've found retailers who don't charge sales tax and they're normally cheapest.
Plus you get 30% back from the Fed rebate.
Let's clarify. This unit absolutely CAN be powered / recharged using a gasoline or propane fuel generator with at least 1500W output capacity. It says this on the EcoFlow website:
"You'll be spoilt for choice with EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra's charging options. As well as all the traditional methods, like solar and the grid, you can now power up using your gas generator or even your EV charging pile. Use our industry-defining 8800W Multicharge to top up two batteries in only 2 hours."

See their website - yes.
The coyote in me REALLY wants to run the breaker off clean power only . . . then do mutli-source input.
Still not there yet =(
What would work is building your home with an A/B system (like a hospital) where you plug unnecessary things into "the wall" and the vital systems into "the system".
Man, even with $20,000 cash-in-hand a man can't buy independence. :/

Why not just look at your electricity bill and see your average kWh consumption

This is just for AC input, you can have solar panels with DC via low and high voltage connections and have AC output active. My solar array will generate 2-2.5kWh on sunny days but I think the max this can handle is close to 6kWh.
You'd want to get the Ecoflow Hub so you could connect the generator and the DPU to the Hub, and when the battery is low you can switch the AC output off and power the house and charge the DPU with the generator. It all depends on the AC loads you need and whether you want to use this for shorter outages or longer outages. For longer outages you would need solar and/or generator in an average house, unless you have an F150 Lightning or 2024 Hummer EV to power your house. These sized batteries are best thought of as a buffer, whether for short outages or TOU electricity plans, or for small houses/cabins with solar panels.
Hope that helps, it's complicated and took me a long time to get my head around what it's good for and what it isn't as the marketing can be misleading.
