Not the best choice for a KVM switch because it does NOT have EDID emulation.

In other words, it will reformat the screen (and rearrange windows) and possibly also trigger sleep mode on the laptop/desktop that you switch away from. Also, on switching back to the said laptop/desktop, it will take long(er) time to get the display back on the monitor because your laptop/desktop will believe a new monitor is being attached to it. It happened to me many times with my Mac-based units attached to these types of non-EDID emulation KVM switches. It's incredibly annoying.

For any serious work, where you frequently switch between units, you'll want a KVM switch with EDID emulation.

Too those of you wondering if this is a good switch or not, I have it and its amazing. Its actually my daily driver. I use it for my work laptop and my gaming PC and it works amazing! It's super fast at switching over (about 2-3 secs, top). I went through like 4 or 5 different KVM switches on Amazon that all ranged from like $30 to like $140. None of them worked. I eventually saw Anker was coming out with this and I have a little love for Anker products so I said why not. I did get mine for the full price (my company gave me a slight reimbursement on it due to the ergonomics and me being a remote worker and working from home and it qualified as a needed necessity) so I ended up only paying about $150 out of pocket. But it works and works WAY better than any of those other KVM switches that I had. So I highly recommend it!

If anyone else have any questions about it, I am willing to answer if I can. At this price, I highly recommend it!

I've never seen a KVM that had ethernet for the end devices. I don't even know why you'd want the KVM switch to also be a network switch...

I was thinking the same thing. Start updates or a big download on one system, switch over to your other system… come back later ands see the download failed because you disconnected the network when you changed devices… seems like a fail.

I read some reviews on Amazon but couldn't find an answer to this question - How fast does it switch from one device to the other?

My problem with these KVM's is that they seldom switch from one device to the other in less than a couple of seconds, which is long enough to break my flow. Really looking for a good reliable KVM that switches in under a half second.
How do any KVMs accomplish this? I'm guessing monitor connection is the weak link and if the signal drops for even a moment they almost all cycle through to find the signal again, right?

I've used a few DisplayPort KVMs at my IT job and all of them take a while to switch. My understanding is that DisplayPort is disconnected from the device and then it "Connects" to the new device when you switch. Meaning the computer has to detect the display and re-connect it every time you switch. This also means that the old device loses its monitor when you switch away, which some programs hate.

HDMI seems to have the same issue, but in my anecdotal experience it handles the connects and disconnects slightly more gracefully than DP.

If anyone knows of literally any DisplayPort KVM that switches fast I'd love to have a recommendation.

Mine has ethernet but only for the laptop USB-C- the assumption (I suppose) is that the desktop has an ethernet port already. This meant adding a cheap switch to my setup, but worth it to have a one-plug solution for my laptop that includes a wired network connection.

I suppose there's no reason that a kvm couldn't have an integrated switch with two Ethernet interfaces so that you have one Ethernet cable coming in shared between both computers that are constantly connected. I think for most people though having the desktop connected on its own and using WiFi for the laptop is a completely adequate solution.

I'm still seeing $96.99, but it is a prime exclusive deal so if you don't have prime you will see a different price.

Ah thanks, I didn't see the QA note before. Tempting to try out. Wish my KVM had that button extension.

It's not the switch that it is slow, it's your computers and monitors that are slow unfortunately, I don't think a better kvm switch can solve that

If you just need a "KM switch" to share mouse and keyboard with multiple systems that have their dedicated monitors, consider a cheap USB switch and a software solution.
I use InputDirector (free) and it is fabulous for using multiple PCs/laptops.

Would an EDID emulator, like this one [amazon.com], work and fix this issue you describe? I like the smaller size and look of this KVM but the issues you are talking about with re-arranging would be a no-go annoyance for me.

Looking for something like this for home. I have my personal computer, and my work laptop. Currently I RDP into my laptop and that's how I work, audio can get screwy though with this.
I really like the idea of this and haven't found a good, reasonably priced solution yet.
My big question is I have an ultra wide 1440p 144hz
Can this push 144hz on a 1440p ultra wide?
Anyone have experience with this yet?
I don't mean to be a princess, but using 144hz for long enough, when you look at something at 60hz it just looks off and not enjoyable to use anymore.
Thanks in advance!

I am not sure because I have not tried it. It may work, but it will be adding to the cost.
