My Asus CX5601 which I got in Nov 2022 did not qualify initially. Turns out it's low disk space that's keeping me from getting it. I was down to 5GB or so, and once I cleared some Steam games and stuff and get 20+GB, the check passes. Hope this helps.

Most of these Chromebook Perks check the device to see if it is eligible and if it hasn't already been redeemed for the device... unfortunately this looks to be for new purchases starting today

Such a stupid process on Google side. Your Chromebook that's running on low storage, which is perfect usecase for using Cloud storage and they want you do delete some stuff to have more local storage before they allow you to get cloud storage. SMH

Any way to get this without a Chromebook pro? Like buying a used/broken one? By setting up a vps using a chromeos to emulating the pro?

My 714 refurb I purchased last year worked fine for this. Battery had zero cycles so might never have been activated before....

Interesting... the Chromebook Plus I purchased in December 2023 did not qualify and I have a ton of free space... I feel like I have missed out on multiple of these Chromebook Perks because of the starting period yet see that old purchases worked fine for others. YMMV

Storage plan trials and discounts are insidious. Like you said, are most people going to start deleting their precious data when the trial is over? Are they going to buy hard drives when they were already out of space to begin with and go through the process of moving everything over? Much easier to pay the new inflated price. I think many SDers would begrudgingly do it to save a few bucks, though.

You can always go to the Chromebook perks page and see if your particular Chromebook is eligible for perks. I think usually it's for stuff that's somewhat recently released but I don't know for sure. I got a year of Google one for free and when I bought my Lenovo duet. I've had a few other offers when I check. It's nothing I really care about. Usually just like 6 months or a year on some service and auto renew requirements. As always or as this usual, it's for new members only so I'm not eligible for a lot of it.
