I was able to get additional $10 off with the Discover card promo, so my total before the tax was $154.99.
Here is the link to Discover promo https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/955116

If you can wait, just don't buy now. You're being grossly over charged with industry collusion.

My reference point - buying a new 4TB 990 Pro directly from samsung for $199.

Do you have a link for 4TB 990 Pro for $199? I only see one for $296.99 without heatsink

No link. The point was a purchase made BEFORE the industry wide collusion to price fix at the end of the year. I purchased the drive from Samsung last november 2023. All the mfgs came out and said - in print - they were going to collude by reducing inventory and driving up prices.

I don't have to buy, but F'em anyway. Storage companies give the word sleaze a positive connotation.

It's the reason we pay 2x to 3x for hard drives too. We have - in effect - a duopoly that prays upon consumers.. Both WD and Seagate are beyond sleazy, but Seagate wins the top prize IMO for telling people that they were going to do because they could, and then made the shittiest drives they could with evaporating warranties (2000 power on hours, meaning a drive would be out of warranty in 83 days if you left it sleeping or connected). Absolute garbage.

I see and agree with your point, very well said. I just haven't tracked the prices for this drives before the industry mfgs pumped up the prices so thought it could be a good deal for someone because the price for this guy a bit more elsewhere at the moment.
