For gaming or general purpose casual use, other options are much better in terms of bang for buck.
This monitor is best for work usage, specifically for tasks where color accuracy matters and artifacts introduced by non-integer scaling with 4k displays on Macs are problematic like photo editing and graphics design. It's also good for text-heavy usage, enabling text clarity that's dramatically better than 2560x1440 and another step up from 4k at the same size.
I own one (VESA mount version) that I use for both of those cases. Its contrast is much better than its specs might suggest; I own other displays that on paper have similar contrast, but the Studio Display's blacks are deeper. It's the most responsive of any monitor I own, with the quickest wake-up time and it having its power supply integrated instead of being an external brick is excellent for usage with a standing desk with power strip mounted underneath. Speakers are head and shoulders above typical monitor speakers and IMO for general use obviate any need for dedicated desktop speakers.
Had mine just over a year and really like using it w/ thunderbolt4 to make my 14" MacBook Pro into a desktop when I'm home. The display is gorgeous, speakers sound phenomenal and it's convenient that there is a built in webcam/mic (they won't blow you away with their quality, but work fine for Zoom and FaceTime). I leave an external SSD attached for Time Machine backups anytime my MacBook is docked with the single thunderbolt4 cable and bought an aluminum stand for the MacBook.
