Portable, good for trips, and a quick way to have rice for a meal. Takes a min in the microwave to cook.

Asian rice eaters. This question comes from a Latin American rice eater. What's the advantage of this? Don't hardcore rice eaters already have neuro-fuzzy rice cookers at home that we spent a pretty penny on, that other ethnic groups scoff at? My Zojirushi is going strong after 20 years. Isn't this easy to make? #longlivefatwallet

They're useful in the more uncommon occassions that you don't have any cooked rice left over, and no time and/or equipment to cook rice. A couple examples are working in an office or on a vacation where you want to eat some of your meals at your hotel/Airbnb.

The last time I've used these was vacationing in Hawaii. We picked up a bunch of poke to take back to the house, and we didn't want to buy a large bag of rice and wait for it to cook.

Otherwise, you're correct. Eating these regularly is both lazy and wasteful.

Got this + Tteokbokki for $3.02 total.
There was a promo to get 1 eligible item with the order.
So I added the rice + other to the cart, then went back and added a rice with 50% off.
Then bumped quantity from 2 to 1 on the rice.
For some reason then made it so each item was like $1.50

This saves on electricity, rice cooker takes over 10mins where as this instant rice only 2mins in the microwave and you don't have to wash the rice. saves water and electricity, mix it with Jap curry and voila, office lunch

this might be better solution than cooking your own if you don't eat rice enough. this became so common nowadays in Korea. a lot of people live alone or just couples without kids, and most time they eat outside. when they have to eat home, this serves better than cooking big portion of rice and then clean up.
