You dont need the sub to run these, but I would personally buy the sub first and then the speakers. Especially if you have the Arc.
Peterpee on YouTube has some terrific settings you can build off of.

Beware, some users have been known to have connectivity (WiFi) issues with the Era line of speakers, even though they have existing Sonos products on the same network.

Though purchasing through Costco definitely makes the return process a non-issue if that were to be the case.

Surprised you can't hear dialog well even with that setup, but yes especially if you have a large room, you typically place the era 100s much closer (like right behind or next to you) so you will hear a lot of additional details from this. I've had moments where I thought someone was sitting and talking next to me because of these.

You'll need some tuning though, there are times the sound from the era seems dominant vs the arc and I end up needing to change the distance of my eras.
Yeah, i wasnt too happy with the voice. Tried to play with settings to help improve but didnt get much results. probably due to the size of our living room with high ceiling. will get these from costco and try. if it didn't work out, will return

2 of these vs 1 Sonos Move2, mostly stay in home office.

I am answering my question.
I picked up two Era 100's from Costco and compared them with my current Sonos Move 1. Wow, the two Era 100's made a big difference. Sounds much better than one Sonos Move.

How is the Era 100 compared to Sonos One? Is it worth the upgrade?

No kidding. Surprise! Stereo is better than mono. Who knew?

I have the same problem with my arc + era 300's and sub setup. 28ft high ceilings...

My first gen beam + sonos 1's sound WAY better in my smaller library with 10ft coffered ceilings than the arc in my great room. Disappointing since I added the 300's to the setup thinking they would help.....

I have a beam gen 2 and a sub mini, do I need speakers this good to use as rear surrounds, or can I get away with a pair of Symfonisk?

I'm facing the same dilemma with my outdoor setup. 1 (potentially 2) Move gen 1s. Or this.

In my particular situation stereo sound wont make a difference. One speaker will be under a covered patio area, the other will be about 150 ft away on the other side of the pool in a covered gazebo.

Am I better off just getting another Move gen 1 while they're on sale? Or is the difference negligible.

Two Era 100's in stereo mode sound much much better than one Move. Guaranteed. If you don't like it, easy return.

if you compare one Era 100 speaker to the Move, don't even bother. The Era 100 will sound like a toddler compared to the Move.

I've never had Sonos speakers but always wanted them. Can these be used individually, as a group? Can they also work with Google home and be used with Google speakers?

Thanks

They can be used independent or as a group. For example, in the app it will show you each system and you can pick and choose what to play. I'm not sure about Google home. I normally airplay everything.

How are they comparing to HomePod mini? I do airplay all the time and I am deep into Apple's Ecosystem. Sonos or more HomePods?

Era vs Move, depends on use case. Speaker alone Era wins, but if you need portability then it's the Move
