I don't really understand buying this with a battery built in. If you want to power it outside (your vehicle) get whatever size battery you need for your application.

I own one from the Kickstarter. If I were to do it over, I would have gotten the 40. The 30 is too small on the interior.

I think there are still some valid use cases:
  • For camping, since this also has a solar input, this might eliminate the need to bring a power station at all. Most portable fridges are actually very power efficient. They use around 30w when running, but turn off once they are cold enough. So if it's cold at night, often, they will barely use any power overnight. So with a solar panel and enough sun, you could probably run the fridge indefinitely and not need to bring a separate power station at all.
  • If you only need it for a short time (anything less than 2 days), this would be very convenient not to have to deal with a separate battery. It would be useful for short trips (going to watch your kids baseball game, or even something to just leave in the car when getting groceries so that you dont need to rush back home)

I can see how it might seem excessive to have a built-in battery as part of the fridge, especially if you already have a big battery, or an electric car.. but I can also see how it would be convenient.
