Planned "so-called obsolescence" to fool fear mongering update phone customers..... "Oh no! I got android 15 and android 16 just came out. I need to hurry and get a new phone.".... Lot of people are fooled by that mindset.

Android os updates don't make your phone better or more secure.
You should only care about os updates only if the apps you are using stop working with like 5 or more years old os.
Most if not all apps don't require the latest os to run. As soon as the os is within 3-4 generations of the latest generation, the apps will run without any issues. The phones battery probably dies before running into app compatibility issues or everyone has moved to a newer phone.
For apps that require the latest os, such as corporate apps from your work, they just do that to pretend to be more secure, which is just a hyped gimmick.
Talking about "security" with smartphones is just a joke. There is no security at all with any smartphone, be it an android phone or an iphone. If you really care about security, throw your smartphone to trash can.
