Can you elaborate? If you buy and sign up now you will not need subscription for the life of the product, or they can/will change it 3 or so months from now?

Sorry I don't know these. I just mean to get this price without clicking the button "subscribe &save".
If it is like the camera on my myQ garage, you can view the live camera and use the keypad function without a sub, but if you want videos saved, then you will need a subscription. I suspect you can use the motion detection without a subscription but don't quote me on that.

Haha, I misunderstood the first guy's question. I just have a look and found that you do not need a subscription for basic functionality like opening and closing the garage door and receiving real-time notifications. However, if you want to access advanced features such as the in-car app or video storage, a subscription is required.

" First of all, it charges through a micro-usb port. For an $100 device sold in 2023, this is ridiculous. It should be USB-C. Also it takes a *long* time to charge. Like 8+ hours. So you need to remember to pull the battery out early in the day to charge it. What happens for me is I remember on a Saturday afternoon, then I end up putting it back before it gets dark (maybe 5 hours later) and it's not fully charged. So I end up having to remove it to charge more often than I'd like. I am using a high power charger so I don't think the problem is with my charger. Also, to remove the device from the wall and get to the battery, you have to remove a tiny screw on the bottom of the unit. It's easy to drop this screw. I would have rather seen the screw on the top, or have some kind of capture mechanism so that the screw can't drop. The video clip feature only works if you pay for the service, and I find it way too expensive for the value it provides. You can view live video from the device in real time, for free. But to view video clips you need to pay."
Got mine from Costco for $29.99, that's about a fair price for it especially because you need a subscription for in car functionality. I did have a keypad on the same garage door, so having that plus a camera and remote connectivity abilities means really good value at $30

Or do you mean, you can use it without subscription but there are no saved videos?
