English HD version should be available soon though through Netflix.
"Godzilla Minus One is available to stream on Netflix starting June 1, subtitled and dubbed in Japanese, English, and more languages in North America. Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color will be available to stream on Netflix later this summer."
The movie is only watchable if you're willing to indulge in its campiness, it's filled with cliches and tropes, but it does have some affecting themes in how they relate to postwar Japan. I wouldn't say the VFX was "good", but they were amazing for a $15 million budget. I probably would have preferred to watch it in black and white, if given the option.
Wasn't able to watch these in the theater when they were out here in the states. Do you recommend Minus One or Minus Color first? I know they're the same movie just want the best experience out of it.
My buddy and I went and saw it in Minus Color. We missed the color release and B/W was all they had for a limited time. I didn't expect much going in, but man was I wrong. Complete different experience.
We were lucky enough to watch it. B/W was great. It made you feel like you were watching a historical war film from WW2. Let's just say at the very least, this Godzilla's atomic breath bitch slaps all the other Godzillas' atomic breath. Very nostalgic if you ever watched or got a glimpse of the OG b/w Godzilla movies.
I also only got a chance to see Minus Color in the theater and the B&W does fit the time period. After seeing posters with godzilla with blue glow though, I've been waiting to see Minus One feeling like I missed out.
Just finished watching this movie. Just like in the old Godzilla movies, the acting was pretty horrible. At least the Japanese have gotten a little better with special effects This Godzilla movie was pretty much on par with the ones I used to run home from school to watch during Monster Week in the 1970's.
Ah, the 4:30 movie. I loved monster week and planet of the Apes week.

can't you just turn down the color saturation in your tv settings to watch the movie in b&w?
"And why were they all Asian? 2024 and they couldn't put a black or gay couple in there"
I was absolutely shocked when the movie didn't assume the proper gender and referred to Godzilla as "it," which usually refers to inanimate objects. Clearly, a pronoun of they/them would be more appropriate for the King of Monsters. π¦

don't worry, everything will be fixed in the sequel. Godzilla vs Yasuke.
just saw it on netflix.. first hour is really slow, you don't grow attached to the characters.. pretty bad acting.. 'power rangers' acting.
was way over hyped.. and definitely not 98% on rotten tomatoes.. no where near an "A+" movie. worth the watch.. not worth the buy. i would not watch it a second time.
