Having said all of that this is definitely a good price if you like it and my complaints above are in general with this brand, not specifically with this product so YMMV.
Also if you want a good deal on a backpack you might try looking at Sierra trading post, not so much the stores but online, they have a pretty good selection of nice backpacks and sometimes the prices are pretty slick.

But like most bags with this feature, it looks overly "middle aged business traveler" when I'd prefer something more casual (like an outdoor brand day pack, Herschel, etc).

I've had the eBags Professional Slim Junior Laptop Backpack for the longest time and every time I used it for travel I wasn't happy (too heavy, doesn't fit enough, top heavy, slides onto luggage sideways).. I'll see how this is.
