Probably the off gassing. I got similar ones before and it took a month to air out. Also mine had a 1lb weigh discrepancy.

My advice: avoid the Amazon ones, and get the Walmart ones. The Amazon ones have rubber sides that are too big and don't match the pic, and they STINK for days before the smell off-gasses (have to leave it outside).

That's what I thought, too. But I read more than one that said they were greasy, leaky…some sort of substance on them or otherwise dirty

I find giving them a soapy rinse would get rid of the chemical smell
