And for charging use, there's nothing wrong with that.

Maybe wishful thinking, but USB cable posts should include specs. Connector type, length, material, power rating, and data transmit speed.

Thank you. Even though the fakespot rated a "F". I am willing to give it a try.

This any better than the Lisen cables sold for 3 for $4.46? Both seem like no name brands...

Some people swear by those Lisen cables. I dunno. I bought Anker as not too long ago I had one of them no-name cheapo cables start smoking and melting. Kinda scary

Bought this 5-pack from a previous deal instead of the Lisen brand. If we are talking about the same Lisen deal, than that one has only 3 cables and 2 are 3'. They are rated at much higher wattage, but I don't have any device or charger rated > 24W so that didn't matter to me. In the end, I went with more cables and longer length. I have been using this cable for a week solely as a phone charger and it works fine for that purpose.

Just curious, how can it start smoking or melting?
For USBC, max voltage is 20v and max power is about 240w. I don't think this is enough to melt plastic. You may divide the power with your cable length to get how much watts on every inch.

OP should have put 'charging cable' in the tile of the post, not that i expected a data cable at this price, but still, for clarity

Edit: thanks, OP! I see it's added Wink

I've seen it happen on one of my USB-C chargers. Specifically the USB-C port itself was blackened, and the plastic surrounding the area where the cable was plugged in got warped. No smoke though.
