It's the usual Southwest Air bait-and-switch "starting at $xx." All the deals are for places you don't want to go, or don't depart from where you live.

This kind of post should be deleted by mods. Sometimes it's nice to know a deal ahead of time as a deal post but this isn't even telling you what the deal is and we know Southwest deals like this are lukewarm at best. This should be over in a forum section of the website until the deal is live and we can vote on actual information.

Edit: It's worse than I thought, the original poster was staff too lol. I love this website but man it's not what it used to be. For those of you reading my comment later than others, I wrote this when there was 0 information about the actual deal, this posting started before Southwest had any info on the actual sale.

My existing bookings are cheaper now. I got $320 back in credits. I'll keep checking each day to see if it gets any lower.
How does that work, if I find my current booking cheaper, how do you contact them for the credits?

Thanks in advance.

Find the flight in your account and click the Change link next to the confirmation number. Keep all the details/date the same and it will show you a list of flights with the price differences. Select your existing flight and it will credit you with the difference.

SWA is forever running "deals" that never amount to anything. Each time I check prices, Delta is still cheaper for a better flying experience. At this point, SWA ads are basically clickbait. I once again tried to schedule my next flight from RDU to MKE (I go every few months) on this deal and, as usual, Delta was cheaper by $18. I feel like the sucker for even trying...

Literally so confusing to navigate. That's why I don't fool with these. As someone who doesn't travel frequently these days"sales" and confusing.

Is there any easy way to tell what flights are eligible for the promo or do you have to keep playing wack-a-mole with locations, dates and airports? I've tried several and all but one said not eligible. The one that was eligible had a 6 hour layover…

Any decent deals out or San Diego or LA? I'm at work so can't really do an extensive search at the moment.

Southwest has become the mattress store that has a "liquidation sale" every month. I had made my peace with that, but after the last time I booked flights, I am done with them. It takes a lot of coordination to pick out dates and times for travel that is months out, but I made it happen. Next thing I know, Southwest rebooks my direct BUR-PDX flights to connecting flights through Phoenix. More than double the flight time, with completely different departure windows. Turns out they just dropped the route. That was a very popular route that rarely had much room left on the plane. Some beancounter MBA probably figured those customers would just fly through LAX going forward. No, moron, I will just be flying Alaska out of Burbank. Sad to see Southwest go downhill.
SW, and others who fly the 737 variants, are dealing with 737-700 models aging, 737-800 models starting to age, no new 737 models coming out nor any new orders due to the recent issues so they have to cancel/shift flight schedules.

I know using the emotional response is easiest, but you have to understand how air travel works.

These "sales" are seasonal and/or to drive more to low demand destinations (or sometimes high demand, depending need). It won't work for all routes, all airports, all times. Select fligths, those are the key words.

Instead of planning around the sale, you should always shop around and determine which airline, dates, times, airports work best for you.

And if none do, oh well.

I have been very disappointed with the recent "Sale" emails. But this one was legit. I booked three flights, including cancelling one and rebooking since it was cheaper on a different date.
And not all flights are one sale; I booked two for a Wednesday and one Saturday.
