For those of you reading my comment later than others, I wrote this when there was 0 information about the actual deal, this posting started before Southwest had any info on the actual sale.

These "sales" are seasonal and/or to drive more to low demand destinations (or sometimes high demand, depending need). It won't work for all routes, all airports, all times. Select fligths, those are the key words.
Instead of planning around the sale, you should always shop around and determine which airline, dates, times, airports work best for you.
And if none do, oh well.
And not all flights are one sale; I booked two for a Wednesday and one Saturday.
