No, it's a QLC drive so it has a reduced lifespan. Only 440 TBW. Also $115 is a robbery for such drive, add $25 and get WD 850x or Hynix P41.

i did it, it helps a little, but when looking at amount used, it's always less than a gig. so i swapped in a 16gb optane nvme and called it a day. my use case was low, so YMMV.

Can you explain what DRAM ssd does for the computer if you're using it as the only drive? I'm new to pc hardware stuff. I see this topic come up very often here but i dont understand the pros and cons

Its a buffer that increases performance and lowers wear, good drives have around 512M-1G of dram, the dramless cheat using system memory, but only a tiny amount of a couple megs. ~64MB.

The nand shortage is getting worse, so there is no point cheaping out now hoping for a price drop, get dram for an os drive if you can afford it.

Dell expects memory and SSD prices to jump an additional 20% this year

Bought the 4tb version and returned it when I noticed sequential writes plummet to 10 mbs and averaged about 70 mbs. No dram, qlc. Reads are much better and for Gane storage and daily use it's fine.
I wanted more performance for additional use cases like vms so bought a wd black and called it a day.

I will skip any QLC NVME as it is not much cheaper than TLC but much slower and durable than TLC.

DRAM is not a big factor on PCIe disks that support HMB (host memory buffer). While the Phison E21T controller used on this model is not a high-end model, it does support HMB and is rated at 5,000MB/s and 4,200MB's sequential read and writes and comes with a 5-year warranty. There are some more powerful disks out there, but I wouldn't pass on this one simply because it doesn't have DRAM.
