I think the medium size is more useful.
I have a big trip coming up and I love cheap deals and I can't tell you how I'm fighting the temptation for the past couple of days to order these. Might end up going with Costco or Sam's 2 pc samsonite softside set for 2-2.5x $$ instead, grudgingly but making the right choice in the long run.

If you fill up the large one, you'll likely end up exceeding the weight limits of most airlines, unless you travel first /business class.
Then, the proportions present a challenge in dragging these around.
I've come to enjoy traveling light, and would keep my luggage to 45+ish lbs, so I can add items I buy.
I mostly take the 1 medium I have, rather than one of the 3 large bags.
Of course, the use case for large luggage would be if you really need to haul lots of stuff for family reunion type trips.
To each their own, though.

It has the same wheel and overall feature as this one.
This is a bit soft for a softside luggage, if you put a lot of stuff into it it is easy to misform and making it hard to push around.
I use it to travel with my equipment, usually ~70lb per bag.
Holds up well after 10+ trips.
And it's cheap enough that I don't mind airlines abusing it.
But this is definitely lower quality than their higher end ones with better/bigger wheels. Maintain on the structure/how well it holds its shape/easier to push when loaded up.
Got 2, thanks!
