I'm rocking a 4TB SSD in my new laptop, with Linux and Windows dual boot.

If I wanted a 4TB drive in a MacBook I'm spending a minimum of 3k.

The linked laptop would be practically perfect if it had a better screen. Upgradable ram and SSD means in 4 years you can just upgrade both and your good to go. I actually would of just stuck with my MacBook Air if it wasn't for the soldered in SSD.

Ordered this with just 8GB of RAM. Plan to upgrade myself it to 32GB RAM and a 4TB SSD.

Good idea actually. Somee folks bought it from my previous deal on this laptop and also confirmed that M.2 2280 SSD slot supports dual sided SSDs as well (Which is a problem is somee Thin & Light designs). So, you can even fit those 8TB SSDs as well without any fitting issue.

Not bad but not great either..
I'd op for the screen to change to touch screen +50
i'd keep the 8 gig of ram, 256 gig of ssd but will later buy more ram and swap out the ssd myself so thats an additional cost later on.
I'd also change the wifi card to a intel 6e at a later point in time as well..

the new mbp should be $2000+. it's weird preaching a $2000 laptop in a sub-500 thread.

4TB is enough for me, at least for now. My current laptop has 2.5TB (in two drives), so this is a step up.

90% of the time I'm plugging into two external monitors. And when I listen to music, I put on headphones.
From what I can tell, the screen is actually better than that on my current laptop but the sound may be worse.

But thanks for pointing this out. Some may find it useful.

Since when does Apple provide 10 years of OS support?

Elaborate in detail? What makes the screen awful, display, and sound bad?

Thanks for posting this OP Smilie .. by any chance do you know if this has a second slot for another hard drive in the laptop? Given my paranoid nature Stick Out Tongue I like to keep my files and backups of Windows on a second hard drive so if I have to restore Windows from a previous backup files aren't affected (also it would be great to have say a 1 TB secondary drive for files to keep storage space free on the C drive Smilie )
