Tbh this is the best thing happened in the audiophile world in recent years. Small, runs on a 5w adapter, mobile app is excellent and is constantly updated. Can't ask for a better streamer at a budget. Been using for over a year now, no complaints.

(Note: If you are one of those people who thinks all dacs sound the same, next line is not for you. This is my personal experience. You can ignore it.)
WiiM mini's internal dac is not the best around, but will be fine for most users. I personally use Sabre dac that is inbuilt in my Audiolab 6000A amp.

App is required for initial setup, but afterwards can just airplay from iPhone / Apple interface without needing to go into the app.

App is required for initial setup, but afterwards can just airplay from iPhone / Apple interface without needing to go into the app.

For my home theater i have an budget avr without built in streaming, so i use my tvs built in app for spotify music. would this be an improvement enough to notice?
Sony x80j tv connected to sony dh590 avr via arc output to with boston vr1 speakers.

This product is amazing. Bought it for $90 a couple of months ago. I connected this to my 15 year old Onkyo receiver, that doesn't have Bluetooth or WiFi capabilities. Now, I can do Airplay and play music from YouTube, Spotify, Apple music etc. to the speakers in the backyard.

Used their app for initial setup and played around with the EQ settings. After that, never really felt the need to use their app.

Wiim Amp. $300. Not necessarily recommending but it is one device.

Surely there are other amps/receivers available with built in streaming capabilities also, at various price points.

I had somewhere issues looking for Chromecast audio support. What I ended up doing was getting an HDMI audio splitter and attaching it to a Chromecast. This has worked pretty well for me
