WiiM mini's internal dac is not the best around, but will be fine for most users. I personally use Sabre dac that is inbuilt in my Audiolab 6000A amp.

Sony x80j tv connected to sony dh590 avr via arc output to with boston vr1 speakers.
Used their app for initial setup and played around with the EQ settings. After that, never really felt the need to use their app.

Surely there are other amps/receivers available with built in streaming capabilities also, at various price points.
