Are these useful if you already live in a mild climate? Curious what use cases I might be missing

We use them for the players at travel baseball games in late spring, summer and early fall. They're fantastic. Well worth the money.

I'm using mine right now as I read this thread. Works great as a portable indoor fan (without mist of course).

I had the larger version that only takes a hose. The switch location is horrible, it's directly under the fan and mister so it inevitably gets wet. The protective rubber over the switch gets worn out from repeated use and then cracks and allows water in. Mine died in about a year of use. These look like they have the same flaw.

I got this last time, love them! I bring them to kids practice, the park, patio area, etc. The misting function is so cool. If you're at the park and have a cooler with melting ice inside, the water can be used for misting.

Trust, if you get one, you'll probably want two.

I only got one of the Kobalts when they cleared them out at Lowes a couple years ago. Always regretted not getting two for peace of mind if mine ever broke.

I ended up grabbing a two pack of these last month from HD and used a battery deal hack for the batteries. Haven't used them yet, but the one I do have gets lots of use during summer soccer for my kid's team.

Tldr, glad to have multiples for lower Midwest summer heat - these things are lifesavers.
