Offer expires Tuesday 6/18/2024. In store only. Limit 1 per customer per separately clipped coupon. (Not sure if this is still true. Please see post #7. Please share your experience. Thanks!)
For example, Home Depot and Lowes are 2 separate coupons so you can buy $100 Home Depot gift card + $100 Lowes gift card and get $30 HEB gift cards for free. But If you buy $200 Home Depot gift cards, you only get $15 HEB gift cards for free.
You must clip the coupons first in HEB app. Works on self checkout. Simply select 'Pay' and then 'Coupon' and scan the QR code from your HEB mobile app before paying the remaining balance with your credit card or cash.
In case you are new to HEB gift card coupons, here is how it works:
1) Open HEB mobile app and clip the coupons for each gift card you want to buy. You can also clip the coupons from your computer using the above URL after logging into your HEB account and the clipped coupons will show up in your HEB mobile app.
2) Pick up the gift cards from the gift card rack. They usually have HEB gift cards at the rack as well. If not, HEB gift cards can be found near the checkout.
3) If you check out with a cashier, let him/her scan the cards. For each variable-amount card, tell him/her how much you want on the card. All HEB gift cards are variable amount. Let the cashier scan the QR code of your HEB mobile app and the coupon amount will be deducted from the total amount. If you have clipped the coupons from your computer but don't have HEB app on your phone, you can also type in your phone# at the credit card terminal with cashier checkout.
4) If you use self checkout, just scan the cards. For each variable-amount card, you will be asked to input the amount. Then select 'Pay' and 'Coupon', scan the QR code from your HEB mobile app using the hand-held scanner, you will see the coupon amount deducted from the total. If not, ask for help. Then select 'Pay' and 'Card' (or 'Cash') to make your payment at credit card terminal.
5) To spend your HEB gift card in store, select 'Credit' in credit card terminal, swipe HEB gift card face up, the transaction amount will be deducted from your HEB gift card. If your transaction amount is greater than the remaining value left on your HEB gift card, you will be prompted to pay the remaining balance which you can pay with another HEB gift card or a credit card. HEB gift cards can also be used in HEB Central Market and most HEB gas stations but cannot be used to buy another gift card.

Will report back
Recently my physical gift card order from walmart.com was stolen by Walmart's shipping partner OnTrac in another state before an empty envelope was delivered. Even I reported it to Walmart before the stolen gift card was used, Walmart failed to deactivate it and still let the thief use it in another state. Then Walmart refused to replace the stolen gift card or investigate the incident claiming that they are not responsible.
Shipping pre-activated physical gift cards is an invitation for theft. With retailers like Walmart whose policies are actually protecting the criminals, we need to take actions. I have started a petition to stop retailers from shipping pre-activated gift cards at https://www.change.org/stop-shipp...gift-cards
If you agree with me, please sign the petition and share it with your networks. Thank you!
