I went to Best Buy to try them out. Maybe just me; the MX4's sound was better and more comfortable than the MX5.

This Link [costco.com] should tell you what the price is in your local store. For instance, it's $342.99 for me, which means it's actually $329.99 after the $70 discount at my store. If your store has the lower price like OP, you should see an online price of $272.99 (the markup for same day delivery is capped at $13)

Edit: possible this isn't accurate for this particular item. anyone that's seen the item in store for OP's price and sees the discount reflected on the costco same day site, please chime in.

What a deal! Saw this at my Costco today (SF Bay Area) but i bought the XM4s in 2021 and they still look and perform great riding the train 2x week and flights for work monthly. I had a chance to borrow my friend's XM5 for a work trip to nyc two weeks ago and they were extremely comfy for the 6hr red eye. If you fly or ride public transportation, these are fantastic.

I've actually been in the market for these. They're not easy to come by though. Two of my Costcos only have AirPod, Bose, and beats

I just bought the Bose with employee discount for $370 with tax. Bought this today for $290 with tax. Returning my Bose but I do find Bose more comfortable and easy on my ear as compared to Sony. Maybe Sony will take time to adjust.

How is the sound quality of XM5 compared to XM4?
Better/worse?

I enlarged the link and I see it comes with a $30 Apple gift card! That certainly sweetens the deal.

Yup, i also like sony sound signature but lightness and comfort of bose pushed me into buying them over sony….mayhaps sony will come up with a headphone as comfortable as bose at the cost of some sound quality or gesture controls. They will still be better than bose but that should be enough for comfort lovers to jump ship.
Also I don't particularly like guessing with gesture controls and would prefer buttons if it were an option.

Looks like according to online and OP's pic, the additional $70 off ends on 6/16. The $30 apple credit definitely sweetens the deal as this is the cheapest new we have seen since the $250 price from Target in December.

Additionally, there has been no official release date for the xm6, which was anticipated to drop this summer if it followed the previous 2 year trend. It's possibly looking like a 2025 release.

This has been the popular opinion that the MX4s were either on par or better than the MX5s for many people, the MX5s used smaller drivers for the sound so they can fit in more tech and be lighter, but that lead to some people thinking the MX4s sounded better. Also, the MX5s don't fold. The MX4s also has more microphones for the active noise cancelling and people generally report that the MX4 experience was better in terms of sound, ANC, and comfort while being at a lower price.

Opinions are expressed here and in other videos and posts online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WTHBCZBt_E

I personally have 2 MX3s and have been waiting for them to die before upgrading. Right now between the 2, tone has a cracked headband that I keep together with a black rubberband, but both still offer good ANC, decent sound and I honestly have fallen asleep wearing both.

I got these for $229.00 no tax from the military exchange website about 2 weeks ago. Hell of a deal but, I am retuning them today. I am keeping the B&W I ordered a few days back for $319 plus tax. Sony sound fatigues me, too much processing. You have to tweek and play with their eq to get some decent sound. B&W, just put them on and play the music, maybe a little base on their eq and your are set. This is just me.

Bowers & Wilkins PX 8 are currently $529 on Amazon down from $699. Super comfortable and imho better sound. relies on superior driver build and engeneering. i used a friends sonys on a six plus hour flight and couldnt get past two hours. ears were hot and had a little pain. took my px 8s back on the return flight and was comfortable all the way home.

If your planning on wearing these for a longer duration I find they get very warm and stuffy. The materials don't feel that high end (for me). I got them for flights but I pretty much never use them anymore due to the size and warmth.

That is true, I upgraded from a xm5. The xm5 sound more natural but miss the bass on the xm5. And they were definitely more comfortable
