First thing to do is to remove the pre-installed antivirus and just go with windows defender and the the free malwarebytes... its all you need. Next thing to do is check for updates in the vantage app, update (I dont recommend bios updates) and then uninstall the vantage app. The next thing to do is download Lenovo Legion toolkit here:

https://github.com/BartoszCicheck...tag/2.21.3

That is essentially Vantage but uses much less resources.

The next thing to do is type "Startup Apps" in the search bar in windows 11.

Disable everything except the realtek audio driver and the windows security notifications.

Reboot..

Next update your geforce drivers (open geforce experience).

Next, install the xbox app and xbox accessories app if you are an xbox controller user and gamepass user.

Next, go into nvidia control panel and make sure in the settings that power management mode says "Maximum performance"

Next, make sure enable G-sync is selected for the laptop display in nvidia control panel.

Next, download steam, gog, and epic games and make sure to get your free weekly epic game (farming sim right now).

next, if you are gamepass user, download the new Hellblade 2 to test your system, its a next-gen game that looks insane on this laptop. Some games are crashing with RTX ray tracing enabled (Witcher 3 for example).

next, go ahead and type startup apps again and disable anything except the mentioned above..

Lastly, remember to user the FN-Q keyboard command often... if you are not gaming, make sure the power light is on blue...

The only negative of this laptop is getting the bottom cover off... took me an hour and i almost threw it againnst the wall... youtube is your friend for a walkthrough... and a guitar pick or something similar. I threw in a samsung 990 2tb for the secondary d: drive for all my games... runs great.

You have no idea what you are talking about or you are an Acer chill. the acer Helios and Helios neo 16 are notorious for their poor heat management and the fact that the software is limited in term of voltage management. They are always on sale on the acer refurb site for a reason and still get no traction. the ASUS g18 thanks to its size manages heats properly and the Legion 5 and 7 sets the standards. I am glad that you are happy with yours but dont spread bad info.

It will only let me use 2 codes at a time. With the code it gave me for signing up for emails and the EXTRAFIVE code I got $125 off and my cart came out to $1375 before tax.

I'm thinking I'll pull the trigger on this one. I was looking for a laptop with at least a 4070 and Ryzen 7, expandable storage/memory, and an ok screen. Had arbitrarily set my budget at $1300 and codes get it down to 1375 so it's close enough for me.

Can anyone think of a reason I shouldn't go for this one?

guys listen to me, dont buy Lenovo 5 or 7, they are hot as hell, just buy acer predator helios 16 (not neo one!), it runs cool, no plug in around 50 60° C, plug in always under 80 or 85° C. I have purchased and test a lots from alienware to asus g18 and Lenovo and HP and returned them all. But the Acer predator helios 16 beats anyone of them!!! can be putting on lap without burning and heat!!! finally after living for 32 years in this modern world, i just found my dream gaming laptop!!! i am a happy man now
dumetuibay!!
Thanks for the info...but where's the sale for that Acer predator helios 16? Or at least when will it go on sale? And if I'm never going to be using the laptop in my lap, is the additional heat even an issue at all? Possible damage to other components or just enough to make you uncomfortable when holding it?

Good of you to point out. I will almost never use it on the go though and will only be unplugging it from an external monitor when I take it with me on trips, so it's not a concern for my usage.

Using EXTRAFIVE and LENOVOSUMMERSALE brings the price down to $1384.99 for me, just checked again. Idk which codes you are using.
