  • Third Book in the Sprawl Trilogy
  • Enter Gibson's unique world—lyric and mechanical, sensual and violent, sobering and exciting—where multinational corporations and high tech outlaws vie for power, traveling into the computer-generated universe known as cyberspace. Into this world comes Mona, a young girl with a murky past and an uncertain future whose life is on a collision course with internationally famous Sense/Net star Angie Mitchell. Since childhood, Angie has been able to tap into cyberspace without a computer. Now, from inside cyberspace, a kidnapping plot is masterminded by a phantom entity who has plans for Mona, Angie, and all humanity, plans that cannot be controlled . . . or even known. And behind the intrigue lurks the shadowy Yazuka, the powerful Japanese underworld, whose leaders ruthlessly manipulate people and events to suit their own purposes . . . or so they think.

Agree it is a great book. Inspiration for the Matrix might be a bit of a reach. Bad guys are corporate oligarchs rather than AI. Mona Lisa Overdrive by Juno Reactor is one of my favorites on the Matrix Soundtrack.

Great price for a great Sci-fi classic. Wish the whole trilogy was on sale. $8 for Neroumamcer is still a good deal.

These books weren't the first cyberpunk books but they brought it into the limelight.

Mona Lisa Overdrive is a great book standing on its own. But the interweaving of characters will make most people want to read the trilogy in order.

Thanks OP!

FYI the short Story Jonny Nemonic (and the inspired Keanu Reaves movie, screanplay by Gibson) are part of the universe built within these books.

Thanks! Picked up for the same price on Kobo: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/...verdrive-1

My patience has paid off, got this whole series for $2/book. It only took 2 years, lol.

Same here, except it took over four years for me I first read Burning Chrome when it came out in Omni magazine back in high school, and have enjoyed Gibson's work ever since.

Loved the Peripheral books and shame on Amazon for canceling season 2! Looking forward to digging into this series, now.
