I just purchased this. Got an additional 10% off this price using military discount. Came out to $161.10 before tax. This was on sale last week for $229. Much better price now. Must not have sold enough for Father's Day.

This is seriously overpriced, for what it does.

Better/cheaper to buy a Ryobi 300W 40V inverter, and plug a regular fan into it, than buy this one (even if it is "Brushless").

I don't disagree with you, but the Ryobi 40v all in one fan is much simpler for most people to use. This fan is similar to the Lowe's EGO 56v fan, but that fan costs nearly double as much. The 56v batteries are also much more expensive. I went with Ryobi because I like their brushless whisper quiet series motors. I recently bought a Ryobi 40v leaf blower and it's amazing how quiet it is while being stronger than my gas-powered leaf blower.

Same. Don't buy from eBay resellers either. They usually come with batteries that don't work. I found this out recently the hard way.

I was also looking at off brand 40v batteries on Amazon. It seems they work, but are less amp hours than advertised. (6ah actually has 4ah). Still not bad for the price. I may go that route if/when I need more batteries. Most of these lithium battery cells are made in the same factory so it's probably not a bad way to save a few bucks.

Leaf blower, which you are moving all around a 5000-10,000 Sq ft yard, battery all-in-one makes sense to buy.

This fan is going to be *sitting* in place for hours on end. It's not "much simpler" to simply put the Ryobi inverter next to a regular fan, and plug the fan into the inverter, vs. buying this unit (and I can use the Ryobi 40v inverter for other uses, when not using it with the fan, like when the lights go out).

Got it. This fan isn't for you. Don't buy it. It's a deal for people who want it.

But what are you using it for? I think the other poster's point about how you could recreate this for much cheaper is a good one and shouldn't just be written off. Your argument that this is "much simpler for most people to use" still leaves out why most people would be using this. A relatively large fan that can't be plugged into the wall doesn't seem like a product that "most people" would need. I'm struggling to come up with situations outside a construction site, where someone would want this, but I think construction workers are probably savvy enough to just use the inverter.

The reason I bought it is because we go to swim meets for my 2 boys. They are outside every Saturday. Lately the temperature has been between 85-95 degrees. We arrive at 7am and it lasts until 2pm. We put up a shade, chairs, and essentially camp out while our kids rotate in and out of the pool for their swim sessions. We don't have access to power plugs, and we have to carry our things from our cars (usually parked a block or two away) to the area outside the pool. Most people bring portable fans. This one and the Ego fan are the most popular fans. Having a fan with wheels is a plus! Others bring smaller portable fans, but they don't move enough air.

If you don't need this fan. No problem. If you have a better idea for what kind of fan you need, great! I posted this deal because it is a deal.

Not an Apples to Apples comparison against the Ego. First, the Ego has a misting feature which is a huge difference. Second, it's only $100 more. Not twice the price that you claim.

Yes. Ego has a misting feature. I would never use that feature in my humid climate, but yes others may want that feature. By saying it's nearly double, i was comparing Ryobi's 160 bucks to the 280 bucks the Ego costs. Batteries on the ego are also more expensive.

The fan is a hybrid so it can be plug in. Compared to the Milwaukee fan which only has 1 year warranty compared 3 years for the ryobi. The ryobi which is about $70 cheaper for similar fan. If you purchased a similar wired fan with 6300 cfm it's about the same price without the longer warranty or the ability to use battery power. I think you should do a little research before jumping to a quick decision. And because you can't think of a use for it doesn't make it not a good deal.

If this came with a battery I'd be all over it. Hard pass without one.

It sounds like you have a pretty good use for this ... but I'm still holding out for the Ryobi Careless Whisper.
