I am not sure about performance wise but the weight difference is 4.17lb vs 3.9 (newer), only a quarter pound difference. The price on the new version is $179.

I bought the one on this post at the beginning of May when there was a promo with $300 off $500. I used once to trim branches and I have to say it got heavy after a short while.

Edit for typo.

This is the older first generation pole saw attachment right? There's a newer carbon fiber one now. Still nice price though.

Bought this last year and have used it a couple of times. Works like a charm and no complaints.

Now I just need to find a similar deal on the pole attachment for the hedge trimmer

I had a hard time with tensioning this. The chain would keep falling off and I have to get my tools and re-tension - which was a pain.

The product number PSA1000 means the bare tool, I think PSA1001 is the tool & battery so no need (would have been nice but not necessary) to include NO BATTERY shake head.
