1. It does look like you need to be a Verizon customer. If you can't find out how to get the promo, Google "Verizon up rewards" and then login. Click on see all offers and this one will pop up. There is a unique promo code that you will need to copy and paste and apply to check out.
2. I've had an old version of these headphones for about 5 to 7 years. They've been great. Battery life is still decent. When the battery gets low they have been getting wonky with sound hence the upgrade. The microphone is so-so with people on the other end of the line saying it doesn't sound great. I heard from one person that they fixed this in the newer models.
3. Regarding the Best Buy offer that comes up, I've only seen that on blue and not black.
4. Regarding the minis, I have a big head and I did try the minis at Sam's Club. I too thought that they might be better since the full size ones drape around the back a bit. Not often an issue though. The minis were a bit too tight. Equally if not more important is the following. When I am not using these, I pull them off my ears and drape them around my neck. With the larger ones, they're pretty comfortable because the speakers are beyond the wide part of my neck approaching the frontnof my neck. With the minis, the speakers are pressing on the side of my neck / jugular. Not comfortable. So keep in mind the comfort for when you are not using them if you were the type of person that likes to have them around your neck. This btw is one of the biggest advantages of this style of headphones - pretty comfortable to wear around town.
5. I've used mine in all sorts of circumstances including jogging and in the gym. They work fine. The sound is pretty good imo. Of course they are not going to be the same as earbuds or headphones, but they're pretty good. Obviously where they thrive is situational awareness for jogging and cycling. Also they're pretty nice for on the back exercises at the gym since they don't fall off like other styles, with earbuds of course also working for this use case.
Should they cost $179.99? Probably not, but $99 is as low as you're probably going to get if you're looking for a new retail pair.

I also keep a pair of Pixel Buds A-Series on hand for when I want to listen to something in a reclined position, or briefly, or for somewhat better sound quality, or while my Aeropexes are charging. But I don't tolerate the feel of buds or IEMs anywhere near as well as bone-conduction headphones, so I'll usually not last more than an hour before I've gotta take the Pixel A-Series off due to discomfort and minor moisture buildup. It's weird because I can go 12 hours or more with high-NRR foam earplugs fully inserted with no discomfort nor moisture-buildup issues. I include this background info so that anyone else with similar issues with traditional buds or IEMs might take a look at bone-conduction headphones like these.

I'm just throwing this out there for anyone that might feel the Shokz are still too expensive for them or if you don't like the tickle/vibration from Shokz when the volume is up. I picked these up the other week to hold me over until I saw a deal on the Mini or the Suunto Pulse. They work GREAT and sound better (IMO) since they are air conduction (fancy turn for speaker sitting outside your ear canal). I've owned Tozo buds before and they are legit and reliable. Time will tell how they hold up to sweat but I'm now having trouble justifying paying the Shokz premium over these.
