Yeah, from everything I've seen this is the ARM laptop to get, hands down.

I was hyped up for these laptops too, but I'd advise everyone to hold their horses .

Microsoft still has not addressed all the stange compatibility issues on these .

A lot of games and music software just isn't working right now, there's a very good chance the new Intel and AMD laptops coming are going to offer major efficiency gains.

Aside from whether this is a good laptop or not, this deal is essentially 5% off MSRP. Am I reading this right?

I love the doc's laptop deals but this one feels flat.

Note:The form factor on the m.2 ssd is 2242 rather than the standard 2280. That might impact options for storage upgrades. I can't find a 2242 drive with a capacity great than 2 TB.

I agree. It never pays to be the early adopter. Let someone else be the Guinea pig.
The only thing I hope for is that the non arm laptops would dramatically drop in price but that hasn't really happened yet.

It's literally been a week, the market takes more time to react than that .

One of two things is going to happen by next year, either Microsoft is able to really get developers to start making arm versions of software .

Or these are going to be 70% off, and Microsoft will again promise the next arm chips will be the ones to finally take on Apple.

I think these are/will be great. But why get it now at essentially msrp? They will never be 70% off but I think 20-30% by November is reasonable. I don't see any reason to buy tech at msrp or 5% off msrp. The exception would be when there's a significant supply shortage and even then, I would wait until the shortage passes.

Well it's not a strange (assume that's what you meant) compatibility issue -- it's what happens when legacy software is written for one kind of processor and then a different kind of processor starts to transition in. It's why Prism exists.

But agree, ARM on Windows at this point is for early adopters only because of the incompatibility issues. It's not a daily driver yet. Nonetheless, for those who want to dip their toes this is a good price. Obviously prices will continue to dip down as they always do once a laptop is released so holding off even just a few months could be beneficial both for compatibility and the wallet.

Agreed, dont get this unless you want a really powerful chromebook equivalent that may or may not run software you need. Dont treat it was a true windows computer unless you've done the research and it runs what you need.

Processors are pretty dang good and efficient but be wary.
