For people asking if this is good for "XYZ" the answer is yes! This laptop will excel at just about anything you can throw at it. The CPU is a BEAST, and then you have the RTX 4070 on top of that. The screen is the best screen that Lenovo offers on the Legion 5 Pro...the only better screen is their OLED, which is only available on their Slim line. This screen has 500 nits brightness, HDR, and 100% DCI-P3 color reproduction all at 240hz.

I can't speak for this generation/model but I have one with a 3070 and a ryzen 7 5800H that I got for about $1100 open box from Best Buy a couple years ago and it's been phenomenal. Lenovo build quality is great. A bit heavier for a laptop but great performance while plugged in.

Good deal on an awesome laptop! I have the 7745HX CPU, 4070, 32GB RAM. I also have the 165hz screen which is dimmer than this model. I paid $1299 back in March and this thing has a better screen and more powerful CPU.

I am able to play games maxed out at good frame rates.

Many classes assume you're using a mac and the instructions will be written for mac os. Also lugging around a heavy gaming laptop and power bric and needing an outlet in every class isn't ideal for school. Obviously if these conditions don't apply to you then disregard.

My daughter has a MBP m1 for her data science classes. It works very well for her and battery life is what makes it stand apart. Easily 15+ hours of use with no degradation of computing power due to not being plugged in. That said, not everyone is a Mac person, and it's really personal preference.

Course the laptop in this deal is not designed to operate without an outlet nearby. More of a "portable desktop", which it excels at.

I have an older Legion laptop with an intel processor and an RTX 3060 and I love it. I have had plenty of laptops over the years and built my own custom PCs and I really like the build quality of these things. It stays cool and is sturdy. I travel with mine regularly and I have no complaints. Also note that these are going to come with the huge power bricks to power the video cards. Not an issue for me but some people have mentioned that they don't like that, however if you want a gaming laptop you need to be able to power it or your just wasting money.
