Says "with or without roof rack"…has anyone used this without? If so, how did that go/how much weight did you have in it?…I have two sunroofs on my SUV so would be concerned about the glass.
Don't do it! We used the same exact model last summer and I hurt my shoulder so I couldn't pack it up. My wife had to pack it up by herself and she ended up cracking the sunroof!

The anti-slip mat is mostly just a holey foam mat (kinda like a shelf liner) that mostly slips out from under the carrier when driving.
yes, I realize it's a shelf liner. If it's slipping out there straps tying down the cargo is not nearly tight enough. That said maybe the design is such that it can't be properly tightened? Do you have experience with this?
I would be concerned about that too. you should think about having an interface material between them if it doesn't come with any. If it's bottom is relatively soft and your roof is clean you are likely okay.
-edit-
I just checked it has an anti slip interface mat. so if things are clean it should be fine.
I have a RoofBag (that's the brand name) soft bag that I've used on several long trips now. No slip or roof damage using the shelf liner type mat they provide. Bought it for $55 2 years ago and well worth it. Bag is also water proof, which has been tested through some downpours.
Not sure of this OP brand but the one we got is awesome.

See my above comment. Really like my RoofBag but only use it on my SUV without a sunroof. I honestly would not use it on my other SUV that has a full panorama glass roof. Way too much ratcheting to secure this down to make me feel ok with the additional pressure on the glass.
That said if you have a regular moon roof (the one that is just above your driver/pass seat) you can easily a bag like this slight behind it without an issue. If the glass is larger when I'd suggest not.
My wife bought me one of these and at first I was very circumspect about trusting a random bag from a random company with no US presence. I wasn't so much worried about losing my stuff, but if the bag failed and my flying stuff caused an accident, I'd be liable. I initially sat it between my car's roof rack and cross bars, figuring they'd take most of the force in the main direction of motion and it worked pretty well. I eventually bought a basket for my crossbars and now I use the bag inside of it as a cargo cover/tie down and it works very well. Be careful not to overweight it, cars have specs for Max roof load while driving and they're surprisingly low (120 or so lbs on my Forester). They also act as sails in the wind, add noise, and kill mpg, but if you need some extra stuff on a road-trip or family vacation, it's much cheaper than a bigger car.

I have a panoramic sunroof and got one of these at first and returned it for one that is a metal rack that attaches to roof rails with one of these bags on top. Saw a suggestion to just use these bags on top of the roof rails with a couple boards of wood to span them at bottom of bag but that seemed like too much of a pain.

Yes, I've owned two of these soft rooftop cargo carriers. Both of them w/ the same liner. You have to really get it just right to have the liner stay in place. Might just be my technique. But the carriers do work well. I've driven all over the place with em and they work well.
