Not very useful at this size, even the 2000W one. I got the dual fuel 2000W Sportsman and found out it is only sufficient for a fridge and freezer. Not even enough for a full size microwave or any cooking appliance.

This generator is useful for small quest, like provide power for beaming light when you go fishing or camping. I think it's light weight, easier to carry. The small wattage means it's more efficient using the fuel to run and generates power.

For low power consumption, a battery with inverter like EcoFlow would be a much better option. Lighter in weight and much much less noisy, though more expensive.

This size powers my full size LG inverter fridge/freezer.
Most of the time we use a 600watt hour battery pack, as the powers normally only out for 8 hours max, however this is a really great backup too that.
Sportsman is notorious for overstating the power ratings of their generators and greatly underperforming. Shame on Tractor Supply for even carrying this garbage.

800 watts is pushing it. Mine can only do 650 watts continuous before the warning light start flashing.
Probably ethanol gas or old gas ... it runs a bit better on fresh E0. I have definitely ran a 700W air fryer and 750w hair dryer on mine. Mine does run weaker on bad gas....but it does still run. I keep one of these to run all my electronics (model laptops tv etc...which is around 300w) and run the rest of my house on a Gen4000DF which I can cut off at night since after I put 2 gal of water in my freezer so it stays cold better. So it saves me gas and my ears.
You'll never run inductive loads on any generator without substantial surge capacity obviously this does not have that... the 800W is relatively real rating for this the 1000w... its only a few seconds at most.

This thing is only $150-170 .... to get a battery with as much power you'd have to get one with at least 3kwh of capacity which is over $1500. I've had mine for a few years left it out in the rain and abuse it for 100h... and its still going. Its also worth noting that this thing will run for pretty much a whole day on 1-1.25gal of gas.

Microwaves are massive inductive loads (magnetron), meaning no generator will run one unless it as a lot of extra capacity. Any non inverter appliance will do the same, Is suspect inverter microwaves may do a bit better but I have never tested one (a few Japanese brands make them)... the are also nice because they modulate cooking power rather than typical on / off behavior most microwaves do.
