A knife never needing sharpening is one made of unicorn horn. This is German steel (which I enjoy on my kitchen knives) but they definitely need sharpening and a full bolster isn't helpful.
Preach. Really dislike the full bolster. Have to grind them down over time.

Amazing knives - I have a chef's and a nakiri. Never have to sharpen it, just hone it consistently with use

Bolster? Is it that part all the way on the opposite end of the tip near the handle, the 3rd picture?

I have a 6 piece Wusthof with block and I agree…these are very sharp out of the box. It does get dull eventually so you have to hone it from time to time. Fun fact, the paring knife is great for opening Amazon packages. Just don't throw it out with the boxes accidentally like I did. I already have a Chef's knife, but I'd get this if it was a Santoku + paring knife set.

Good knives, especially if you like the full bolster (I don't). These will last a lifetime. Don't put them into the dishwasher. Do learn to use a strop.

Yes.
Reasons to like it: it is very hard if not impossible for your hand to accidentally slip onto the sharp part of the blade from handle; it keeps balance close to the bolster itself.
Reasons not to like it: it gets in the way during sharpening; it is not very comfortable for pitch grip; you cannot use tip of the heel of the blade; years of sharpening will grind the blade below the bolster, so you'll have to grind it, or it will look weird and may affect usage.

Wusthof Classic Ikon series uses same steel, same blade profile, but half bolster and different heavier handle which some people like and some people don't. Because of heavier handle and lack of bolster, balance point on them is further from the blade roughly at the 1/4 part of the handle. And they are usually more expensive.

Isnt this a better deal for this knife? Is the other knife actually worth the extra money?

It depends on do you use pairing knife or not. It cost more if sold separately, but it has 0 value if you do not plan to use it.
JFYI: Woot cancelled my order of different knife from the same deal couple days ago saying that knife was OOS.

It's simple to take down the bolster as you sharpen them. Recently, I've had a few people ask me to remove the bolster entirely. They actually look really good without it.

Damn, I just bought the Wusthof Gourmet 4 piece set for $100 a couple months ago and although they are fine, they do feel a bit cheap. At this price I'm in for 1 to replace my chef's knife with this one.
