You can do a simple mod on your single hose unit to make it dual hose. There's a whole bunch of youtube tutorials on it. It's basically adding a second hose on the intake, it may not look pretty but at least you're not spending double the amount on a dual hose version. YYMV

I disagree. Single-hose units are not well suited for any room. They are very bad at cooling any space compared to a dual hose or window unit. You need almost double the power usage for any given space.

Just don't buy single hose.

Single-hose units are better suited for smaller rooms, while dual-hose units are more effective at cooling larger spaces. This is a small unit which is meant for a small room so a single hose is perfect.

Would this be okay for an insulated 2 car garage? not looking to hit the 60s in there, just dont want to stroke out in Texas' 100 degree days.

This unit is way too small since a 2 garage is 400-700 square feet and this is for 250 square feet. It would never stop running which would burn up the unit and greatly increase your power bill. FYI : You need a window or door to use one of these units for exhaust. Maybe using a high velocity fan as an exhaust fan would help move hot air outside. Check Best Buy the Insignia units are good.

Yeah I agree. I have a single hose in my small apartment and it does cool the room. But I can feel a ton of air being sucked in under the door. The rest of my apartment right now is quite hot and it's sucking this hot air into my room and then the AC is blasting cold air. The AC does win in the end cooling the hot air but it cant be efficient at all.

I know right? May as well have added another 0 to make it an even more absurd MSRP 😂

I've got a bedroom on the 4th floor and it was unbearable to sleep. I've always had a single hose portable A/C unit and it's always worked great up there. I could keep it 68° if I wanted to.

I've got a 2 hose unit up there now, it runs less but it also works great, I haven't noticed any significant decrease in my electrical bill.

I've got central air, but in my 3rd/4th floor condo to keep it 68° on the 4th floor, means it's 61° on the 3rd floor, now that is going to raise your electric bill.

I got the 6,500BTU version from BestBuy last week for $170. It's up to $199 now. I have a mid-size bedroom, and this single hose unit works just fine. Cools the room down within minutes.

12K Mini split if insulated. I paid $392 recently (but I have all the tools).
