The fridge works without panels, and panels can be ordered separately and installed later. My much bigger issue is the laughable reputation for quality Samsung has developed for appliances. I had a friend once comment that everyone has old Frigidaire or Kenmore fridges (think 10+ years), but they had never seen a Samsung or LG fridge over 2-3 years old despite them supposedly being "market leaders" for so long. Makes it hard not to feel that they make it to intentionally break.
I have this refrigerator and I love it. Bens Appliances and Junk, who also doesn't like Samsung in general, gave this model fridge a great review. He tore it down and was impressed with the build and quality. The ice maker has been redesigned and put in the bottom drawer. I like the quality of the ice and the two different sizes.
Samsung and Samsung Bespoke are almost two different companies, so to speak. The bespoke line is made in Korea, whereas all other Samsung is made in China. And I think that's why the Bespoke model line is so much better.
I would agree on Samsung making fridges of questionable reliability but LG is good in my experience. I have a LG fridge for 7 years with no issues.
Samsung issue is the issue with most French door refrigerators and trying to put a ice maker or dispenser in the door. The door is the fridge part and they have to attempt to keep the ice from melting which in turn caused freezing over issues. Most French door have this issue if they have the ice dispenser. The internal water dispenser with manual scoop ice doesn't have that problem. Also most non Samsung certified techs trash Samsung as they aren't allowed to work on them or get official parts for them as Samsung has a more difficult process of obtaining the certification. Repair techs can't make any money if they aren't allowed to work on them so they recommend brands they can work on.
Now LG has the big issue with their linear compressor. All brands have issues but Samsung and LG typically are the cheaper of the brands that offer dancer styles or features leading to much larger customer base. A large customer base = more problems that get reported.
Realistically on fridges you want simpler proven styles. The base technology is decades old but all the new stuff is what is adding unneccasary headaches and therefore failures.

Terrible luck with all Samsung appliance. Seven years ago I got the 4 piece set. My fridge just went. The only one left is the microwave, so 3 down in seven years which is pretty bad.

this. i also bought it on his recommendation. i swore i wouldn't after buying parts from him to splice in a heater and fighting that whole mess on my last samsung fridge but i did get a few more years out of my last one with his help. enjoying this new one so far.
thanks to everyone involved in this thread though that shared the panel rebate - hopefully they'll honor that for a costco purchase but i'm not holding my breath.
I'm trying to submit my free door credit offer, but every time I try, laptop or phone, the submission glitches and fails. Been trying for 3 weeks now. Will have to start calling now :-/
Few YouTube Appliance Technician channels have reported that this is the best Samsung fridge they have made in 10+ years. It is also made in Korea. They stated that Samsung remedied all the "faults" and recommended buying the 3 door Bespoke Models.
Can someone help me out on how to customize it? No matter what zip code, I put in it says delivery not available to the zip.
They utilize either Samsung local stores or Best Buy for delivery. And they have to be available within 3 days delivery on Best Buy which I also don't have option for delivery on any as my Best Buy updates their delivery day every week to be 4 day delivery. Which is annoying. And I live 3 hours from their HQ....
