Router + range extender doesn't seem to be adequate/reliable for whole-building coverage, so I've been looking at mesh. Concerned about giving up performance and features for range, though. AC1300 sounds anemic.
I can't speak for this exact model, but I bought an eero 6+ last week and it has been hands down the simplest, best router setup I've ever purchased. I'm not super interested in tweaking or anything crazy, and all the other router setups I've had have been so complicated. I spent so long researching through reviews and articles on the best router setups and all it did was confuse me more.
With the eero, you plug it in, open the app and set it up in about 3 clicks. Super low profile so it doesn't take up much space and the ease of use is amazing.
Would highly recommend this for anyone who is looking at screwing around with internet setups and wants a simple solution.
Oh and the performance is amazing. No disconnections, constant fast speeds.
If I have Fios does this replace the main router? Or does the first eero router hardwire to the Fios router and the mesh work from there?
FIOS main router has to stay. Verizon central office recognize only their router. You can connect this to your router. Don't forget to turn off FIOS router's WIFI. Otherwise you will be transmitting 2 SSIDs. It will cause interference and low throughput in your house.
This vs TP-link[amazon.com]S4 for $115? It seems S4 is claiming it can support 1G speed. I only have 300mbs up and down.
I have a bi-level apartment (1100sqft) with Fios. My bedroom is upstairs and far back so I barely get signal (pages load slowly). My upstair office gets signal of 100mbs. My verizon router is on 1st floor. I also have an ONT hiden in a closet on the second floor.
