With minisforum, it's probably better to wait till reviews from average users come out. Their last gen product UM790 had WiFi issues until they later revised the design.

This. Also do not buy directly from them. There are so many horror stories about shipping times that are months long and a sub par return process at best if needed. Wait until it's available on Amazon.

anyone with good experience of loading esxi on one of those PCs? i am concerned that some of the NIC won't be recognized by vanilla version of esxi software and need you to customize the driver list.

As pert my knowledge, this is using Realtek RTL8125 2.5G lan for which Esxi does not comme with drivers and you need to find the driver and build ISO. For the version 6.xxx, there are lot od guides and Drivers available (check the link below) but for higher versions like esxi 7 and 8, not so sure.

after much research, i ended up place order for a beelink SER7 box that has a chance of having Intel i225-V NIC (albeit just one NIC, and some reporting they got a Realtec NIC instead), we will see how well it works with ESXI 7 once i receive the box. i also learned that for intel processor, you have to turn off the E core for the hypervisor to work, so that kind of making a AMD processor + Intel NIC to be the only thing that would work optimally.

There's been quite a a few posts about minisforum outright rejecting warranties. On the minipc reddit.

The most recent post on Reddit, minisforum stated computers were built to fail after a year, refused warranty service, wanted to charge a depreciation fee for the customer using the computer for six months, and then charge return shipping.

I bought a UM790 pro, Amazon, (OEM 32g and 512gHD, added 1T HD to 2nd slot) in July of 2023, after 3 months became extremely unstable, constant crashes with 20 different blue screen errors. I spent 2 months trouble-shooting to no avail.

Minisforum honored their warranty, I had to pay shipping to California. Took about a month total, received a brand new UM790 pro.

After 4 months (less usage this time) Crashes returned, seems to be a motherboard issue, possible needed better cooling. MORE TROUBLESHOOTING. Thru BIOS I turned max temp down, am currently at 65*c max temp and is stable, but gaming is a bit limited.

Love the machine, hopefully their newer models fixed issues.
