if considered for a gaming rig i'd avoid it, because on face it looks like its using the 7900X instead of the 7900X3D, the latter of which uses a very large L3 cache that is highly optimized for gaming performance.
7900X is a great processor, but for a serious gamer (any $2K+ build is pretty serious) they need a 7900X3D.

Good point. I pulled the trigger on it but might just return it and try building my own for the first time

totally worth it to do so, best time to do it as well so many tutorials you can follow on youtube.
here's a quick benchmark video comparing the 7800X3D vs 7900X. Even though the 7800X3D is a "model down", the extra caches show it outperforming / generating better frames in RDR2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJRTFF-2_rg
the 7800X3D actually outperforms even the upgraded 7900X3D in many gaming scenarios due to it not having a split design for the cores, which makes things simpler and faster in many contexts that are specific to gaming. Very non intuitive.
There are plenty of examples like this. There is a subreddit / discord called 'build a pc sales' and they would be able to help immensely in your system build.

What do you guys think about the 4070 version? I am about to pull the trigger on this. I don't want to build my own. I am not a serious gamer, but I do like to play quake. https://www.costco.com/msi-aegis-...89077.html
