I've had one of these for years and it still works great. It saves a little time and you get the most out of an apple since it gets right around the core. Some advice is to clean it immediately after using it since it is a difficult utensil to clean once it sits a while.
price history chart shows it's almost always this price

I also have this apple slicer (bought from a previous FP deal); it works well.

I use these all the time and they work great for apples and pears. If you use them for pears, make sure the pears aren't extra hard. I hand wash the slicer and in the tight spots with the blades, I use a toothbrush once in a while to clean the tight corner areas of the blades where I can't reach well with a regular sponge.... Apple slicer is a must. Convenient, quick and lasts many years.

As someone who recently shopped for one of these in my local department and specialty stores, this is a good price for a better quality slicer. If you eat apples every day, get one.

Very handy. Kids can use it, as long as it's not a huge ass Apple, or one of the crispier skinned apples like Granny Smith.

Stuff like pink lady's and even honey crisp can be cut by my 6 year old.

I don't like these as anytime I use them there's always a bit of the core in the middle of the slice of an apple I have to remove anyways. I guess you can just stand by the trash and bite that part off and spit it out, but might as well just use a regular knife and do it right from the start at that point

Was about to say the same thing. I use mine weekly, no problem. People are literally paying for name brand in this case

I paid $1 for mine and it is a great one! I would never pay $6 for this, that's crazy!

Never thought to use this on pears. Thanks for the tip!

I have the dollar tree version and I will say I've broken 2. There's a gap between the place that you hold on either side that gives way. Also the size of the dollar tree one is slightly smaller than some of the heavy duty ones limiting the size of the fruit that can be sliced.
I will say I've seen bigger ones for $10 or more and there's no way I'm paying that. Under $5 would be nice. I'm looking for the one that slices 12. Looks like Walmart has a few options.
