I bit, and purchased the 5700x3d thinking that when this CPU starts to struggle and need an upgrade so will the 5800x3d. According to reviews I have seen they are very close performance wise. Close enough I would rather pocket the 120-130 dollar difference at the time I bought mine. Great CPU. Made my old x470 system snappy again over my old Ryzen 3600 from 2019.

If you are already on a Ryzen 5000 series cpu, you probably shouldn't upgrade. Anything prior to 5000 will bring forth a lot of new gaming performance for you.

If only the 5800X3D was at this price... Just wishful thinking.

I'm ready for the 9000 series to drop. Then I'll see where the sales land.

x3D can be a bit better for gaming, however it's not any better at office applications.

If you are talking about gaming, absolutely.

Only if you aren't GPU bottlenecked.

Not really. It's been cheaper before and only $6 more for over a month. Performance wise this is worse than a 5700 in single thread and multithread, so everything that doesnt benefit from the extra cache it does worse in. Assuming you arent already on AM4 an Intel 12700 or 13600 performs better in nearly every way (vastly better in multithread and single thread, but using more power) for not much more. If youre already on Zen 3 the moderate gaming uplift isnt worth buying this for.

It's 'fine' but in no way is it an 'absurdly good deal'.

Yes. It's great for gaming and the about 20% increase in IPC will be great for everything.
