Not saying you are incorrect but The 64oz of vinegar is $2.25 at my local Dollar General. This deal is a one time clean out for less money and a little time savings and water savings of having to run multiple empty loads of vinegar clean out.
Or spend $1.75 on this and be done in one wash.

Seriously just buy a jug of vinegar, use the entire thing over the few washes, and then a few cups periodically, and you'll never need the finish sauce

Maybe, but it doesn't matter. PFAS is a real issue but that's when you use it in contexts where you put it in or on your body. In the context of cooking that means things that might get into food. For cleaning chemicals it doesn't matter because you rinse it all away thoroughly. The bottle almost certainly contains toxic shit way more dangerous than PFAS too but nobody cares because we aren't drinking it. Regular dishwasher detergent straight up contains bleach.

Many of the reviews say the smell is chemical and makes your next few washes smell of it.

YMMV. This will destroy the seals on some dishwashers, so check your dishwasher's user manual before doing this.

I thought vinegar was bad for the seals

Good question, it does not. You can see the ingredients here.

It uses Trideceth-4 as the surfactant.
