Maybe in a residential setting....or new work. Asking a business or plant to shut down areas to preform work is not always acceptable.

Linemen also do plenty of hot work

Mostly if you work on live circuits, or want extra insurance in case circuits are unexpectedly live.

I love these screwdrivers. The one with Phillips/flat head made my life so much easier when I was re-wiring my house.

Picked up this set last week in store since I didn't have any insulated ones. The real gem in this set is the ECX #1. It's made specifically for terminals on switches and receptacles to get them nice and tight and not strip them

Ordered. Almost got a set at Harbor Freight today, but changed my mind. $13 at HF for their "Doyle" brand.

Hope these insulated ones are better than Milwaukee's regular screwdrivers. Those leave a bit to be desired.

I keep the Phillips in my secondary bag after having gotten the new Milwaukee insulated set with 8 different slim-tip blades. The slotted driver is pretty big/long. The ECX is nice to have around for the odd occasion, they also work well in Square D boxes/breakers.

Are these mainly for pros that have to work on live circuits? Or is there a use case for these with home DIYers?

At least they try not to. Extra insurance doesn't hurt, at least not as much as an electrical "bite".

I bought the set mainly for the #1 ECX driver, which, as another poster mentioned, allow you to really tighten down on screw terminals - it's a combo Phillips/Robertson driver, which matches the screws on the terminals of most receptacles/switches.

I am not a pro, just a home DIYer. I don't work on live circuits, but the insulation is an added benefit - I have run across circuits in my house where a PO home gamer has shared neutrals from another circuit.

1. S1 bit (square 1) works perfectly on the terminals, circuit breakers and the CB panel screws. If you don't have ECX#1, use S1. 2. Harbor Freight has similar set which includes ECX#1 and is rated 1000V and is cheaper. I have never heard any one getting electrocuted using HF set. 3. I always carry and confirm that the live is Off using a non contact voltage tester and confirming the findings against a live circuit. I avoid working on live circuits if possible. 4. Rubber sneaker shoes, fiberglass ladders etc are your friends.
