Peoples individual experiences with Samsung aren't really relevant here.
What is relevant are things backed with statistics like :

- Ranked dead last in reliability by consumer reports multiple times
- Lost class action lawsuit for knowingly selling defective refrigerators, there are multiple other lawsuits over defects.
- Most complaints of any refrigerator brand
- under investigation by US consumer products safety commission for high number of complaints.

Are there Samsung refrigerators out there that have been running for 5, 10 or 15 years without any issues? Sure, there are. Just statistically they are more likely to fail than other brands.

A free Samsung appliance isn't worth the price.

I'd avoid Samsung appliances at any price. They are just not reliable.

No indoor ice maker, but I can say we have the older Samsung with the pull out deli drawer and we like it just fine, I still rather have a side by side, so the freezer stuff doesn't get piled up

Not sure why most of the comments are negative. We have our bespoke Samsung refrigerator for 1 year now and it works amazingly. Our neighbor has had it for 3 years and it works perfectly. I've read that Samsung changed their compressors but make sure you Google for info.
