Good deal - Just keep in mind folks whether you buy new or used HDD it is always a good idea to protect your data by having multiple copies. Me being a computer nerd do all 3 of these below, but you should do at least one (preferably 1 local and 1 remote).

Locally you can do disk to disk backup
Locally you can use RAID and multiple drives
Remotely you can sync your data to a cloud provider like MS OneDrive, Amazon AWS, Google Drive, DropBOx, ect....

Anyone know how loud these are? Thinking of proactively replacing my Plex drives. Need quieter drives.

I bought this at 82.99 and they sent me a WD ultrastar instead of HGST.
Go hard drive support said WD is just retail version of HGST which sells to Data Centers.

There is a video on youtube comparing how loud against other drives. Just do a search. I think if it is inside a case, it should be quieter... I hope lol... for the price, it is worth to try one for me. If it is not too loud, I am going to get more of them.

Louder than wd whites, not as loud as than exos in my anecdotal experience, but either way I wouldn't want them going in my regular PC case. I would just assume any enterprise drive is going to be quite loud because obviously they are meant for data centers, servers etc. Good excuse to build a NAS

Thank you for the info. Learned today that these are not meant for regular PC like I was thinking.

got one last week. mine also said WD on the outside. had to use the power adapter they ship with. hard disk sentinel is fine with it. no noise I can discern except some clicking when in use - but not the bad kind

Already loaded up about 6TB

Would this power adapter get in the way if this drive was used in a SATA hot swap bay? That would be a deal breaker for most NAS cases.

I expect that any modern NAS won't need the power adapter but if that is the case the alternative is to tape over the right pins.

Preventative wear leveling. Unavoidable fact on many enterprise drives.
