Seems like they could have made an awesome game with this idea, but it looks like complete cartoony garbage. Hard pass.

Bought this last time it was up, PS4. I am a sucker for pixelated 8-bit graphics and simple gameplay, so I jumped on this. I've only played it a few times, but I think the basic playthrough is to defeat the 4 gangs who have overrun the area. To really complete the game, you need to play through it 4 different times. Each time you must defeat a different gang at the end. It gets a little wacky with accumulating coins to spend on power ups and such. Knowing what I know now, I'd go $10 on it. Still entertaining but a little repetitive.

Double Dragon's not the only game in town, something like Fight 'N Rage should scratch that itch for $4.99:

Fight N Rage is a much better beat em up. Sure it's digital, but it's only $5. Also available on Xbox.
