That was so long ago that might as well be ancient history. I do remember it. No way they could sustain a business model doing that.

I consider it like Groupon. Were you around when Groupon first came out? They would give out like $20+ codes to add to your account. People here used to create dozens upon dozens of accounts. Wracking up hundreds/thousands of dollars worth of "free experiences" via Groupon. They do that to create a following. It worked. Just like it worked for Humble Bundle.

Are the deals good today? Absolutely. The cheapest Plague Tale Requiem has been on PC is about $20 and the cheapest Ghostrunner 2 has been on PC is about $12. You get both for $12 plus 6 other games.

Those days are never coming back. You just write them down in "Slickdeal history books" and move on. It's like when Microsoft released Bing cashback like 20 years ago. Something like 30% cashback buying laptops, Apple products, etc. Nothing lasts forever.
Does anyone else find it weird they rebranded to "Humble Choice" and yet they no longer let you choose between X out of X games? May as well have just stayed branded as Humble Monthly
A person asks what it use to be like and I answered them. I agree with you, it's apples and oranges now.

Looks like a good month!

A Plague Tale: Requiem
Ghostrunner 2
Figment 2: Creed Valley

^^ Those games seem to get good/great reviews. A Plague Tale: Innocence was free via Epic Games back in January. That's the 1st game. This is a way better month than last month.

Humble bundle is a rotting shambling corpse of its original form and it keeps getting worse and worse.

This is the lowest ever for Plague Tale Requiem. Think I'll get it just for that alone.

You know how their motto is "pay what you want"? That was literal at one point. As in, I want this bundle. I'll pay 1 cent for it. You would get all of the games offered for literally 1 cent if that's what you wanted to pay. For a brief time, you could even get CD keys for steam for 1 cent. These weren't shitty games too. They were legit good indie games like VVVVV, Braid, and Super Meat Boy. For a penny. Naturally, that had to be fixed because people were hoarding hundreds of keys for dollars so they changed it to $1 for CD keys. Mind you, you would still be able to download the games themselves if you paid 1 cent but you couldn't add them to steam. They had really good summer bundles too like steam sales. Then they branched out a bit from games and added ebooks and the other stuff you see. Then they added their own store. Then they added the humble choice. While all of this was happening, over time the quality was going down. While they still would offer good games, they were very obscure or just repeats of older bundles or games that were good but quite honestly you probably already had if you're a gamer that likes indie games. Then, somehow, they just completely removed the ability to get the whole bundle for a single charge and started adding tiers. Now it isn't "pay what you want". It's "donate what you want but you need to pay this much to get a certain game that you want". All the while, quality continued to decline. I mean, look at the bundle history from like 2014 vs lately. Granted, that is subjective and whatnot, but I think most people can agree that hunble bundle has dipped. As for humble choice? It SUCKS now. I haven't bought a bundle from it in probably years despite being subbed to it. I just pause each month because they just release games that are insanely popular and you may already have or just a bunch of games that suck or failed.
The bundles themselves are incredibly hit or miss and the themes tend to be dull. Just look at the bundles going on now. They suck, or at the very most they suck compared to what they use to do. All of this and you cannot "pay what you want".

tl;dr low quality, changed business model, "pay what you want" is a genuine lie

I only remember as far back as "beat the average" donation and get the entire bundle, which would let you get a better deal if you jumped in on the bundle early. I always thought that was a brilliant way to drive the price up. No idea why they abandoned it. Bundles almost always had a $1 tier too until a year or two ago
