For the post that got deleted above this one, if the poster deleted it then you made the right call. If someone else deleted it, you should count yourself lucky. Oh man....is that all just stemming from changing the race of a character? People get crazy.
Along the lines of changes, the one that stuck out the most to me is the relationship between Paul and Chani... I don't it remember it going down that way in the books or previous movies. A big change that has ripple effects to deviate away from the source material and/or open up the path to changing other relationships.
(1) The original novels focused a lot more on highly selective breeding to create genetically superior people. Thus the elites were true elites in that they were both mentally superior & physically superior (both athleticism & looks) vs the masses of commoners. The 2 movies downplayed this theme, because eugenics has been very politically incorrect in the USA & especially for Hollywood liberals.
(2) The original novels had people who were mostly European & a significant minority of people who were Asian (e.g., South Asian & East Asian) & Middle Eastern + North African (MENA). The original novels did not have black people. The 2 movies had black people in random roles. Some examples: In the novel, Liet-Kynes was an old white guy. In the 2 movies, Liet-Kynes was a middle-age black woman. In the novel, Chani was either a white woman or had mostly white heritage with some MENA ancestry. Chani's father was Liet-Kynes (white), & her mother was Fremen (various degrees of white + MENA). Etc.
(3) In the novels, Vladimir Harkonnen was obviously sadistic, hedonistic, dishonest, power hungry, & homosexual. In the 2 movies, he was sadistic, hedonistic, dishonest, & power hungry. Hollywood's political correctness refused to portray a gay guy as a villain.
(4) Etc.
Bene Gesserit eugenics is discussed, and there's an added scene on Giedi Prime in Dune pt 2. There's also a prequel series coming out. IMO, they were arrogant and cocksure, not elite.
The Freman race is not discussed in detail as far as I remember. They were described as tan skinned and blue eyed from spice.
Honestly, I think the second movie should have been split into 2, and they could have explored the characters more, or this entire book would have been better as a long-form series, a la Game of Thrones. My opinion.
The recent Dune movies barely dealt with eugenics. The original novels constantly talked about breeding & training superior people. This was true for the Bene Gesserits, Paul Atreides, the Guild Navigators, his children Leto II & Ghanima, Siona, Moneo, the Bene Tleilax, Sheeana, Duncan Idaho's many gholas, Miles Teg, etc. Their different methods of eugenics resulted in them clearly possessing intellectual abilities & physical feats that no normal person could do.
Here are a few examples about the Fremen from the novels: They had names & words mostly based on the cultures of the Middle East, North Africa, & Europe (e.g., Stilgard, Kitab Al-Ibar, Maometh Saari, & Zensunni). They had religious beliefs that mixed Islam with Catholicism with Zen Buddhism with Maoism with a dash of Western pop-culture. It's clearly stated in the first Dune novel's appendices. The Fremen way-of-life demonstrated this in the first 3 Dune novels.
Stilgar (rhymes with still guard), the leader of the Fremen (rhymes with free men), had a thin nose & black beard. Chani (Paul's unofficial wife) had red hair with elfin facial features. Ghanima (Paul's first & only daughter) had gold-red hair from her grandmother the Lady Jessica & her mother Chani. Chani was the daughter of Liet-Kynes & a Fremen woman. Liet-Kynes had Germany ancestry.
Dune Messiah: chapter 3: toward end: Duncan Idaho's ghola was described as "slender man," "face remained somewhat round, but darker and with slightly flattened features. High cheekbones . . . definite epicanthic folds. The hair was black and unruly."
Some quotes about practical efficiency vs wasteful decadence from Frank Herbert's original Dune novels:
Dune 1: chapter 19: "There should be a science of discontent. People need hard times and oppression to develop psychic muscles."
Dune 1: ch 28: "We came from Caladan --- a paradise world for our form of life. There existed no need on Caladan to build a physical paradise or a paradise of the mind --- we could see the actuality all around us. And the price we paid was the price men have always paid for achieving a paradise in this life --- we went soft, we lost our edge."
Dune 1: ch 32: "The Fremen were supreme in that quality the ancients called "spannungsbogen" --- which is the self-imposed delay between desire for a thing and the act of reaching out to grasp that thing."
Children of Dune: ch 5: "The Fremen must return to their original faith . . . lesson of survival was learned in the struggle with Arrakis. . . . The words of the Imperium, the Landsraad and the CHOAM confederacy have no message to give him [the Fremen]. They will only rob him of his soul."
God Emperor of Dune: ch 45: "Given enough time for the generations to evolve, the predator produces particular survival adaptations in its prey which, through the circular operation of feedback, produce changes in the predator which again change the prey --- etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. . . . Many powerful forces do the same thing. You can count religions among such forces."
Heretics of Dune: ch 26: 'There was this drylander who was asked which was more important, a literjon of water or a vast pool of water? The drylander thought a moment and then said: "The literjon is more important. No single person could own a great pool of water. But a literjob you could hide under your cloak and run away with it. No one would know."'
I could go on & on like this, but I don't have the patience to fully educate you.
A movie of this reputation deserves to be watched at the highest possible quality.
Also Dune part 2 seems to be in standard format. If you can wait, then wait for Dune bundle in expanded aspect ratio.

Yet people get really worked up and will magnify everything with a magnifying glass. It's literally entertainment, not a scientific study.
You are correct that about people not noticing it from a distance and no offence to them as they are not videophiles. I have 75 inch TV and honestly anything below full hd looks like crap.
Even 1080p is softer and lacks the sharpness. If you are that person who watches 720p contents on a phone, go ahead with this deal. I too use 720p for daily watching as it is good tradeoff between data usage and quality but movies like Dune deserves to be watched on bigger screen and if possible, get higher quality content
