This is much cheaper. Over 7oz for 3.88. Not sure on the quality difference, but I have tried the Lao Gan Ma before and liked it.

If you want something spicier, see if your local asian grocery has "xianglawang". It's like $5 for a decent sized jar.

I've been somewhat obsessed with trying different chili oils since buying these taiwanese frozen noodles made by "PLN" at costco that included a pack (discontinued now). That was the greatest. Unfortunately, i can't find anything super close to how good the PLN stuff was - it included cinnamon and anise, but xianglawang is the closest i've found. I added a tiny amount of cinnamon to it.

If you like spicy chili oil flu by jing has a good flavor. Lao Gan Ma the oil you see at stores often is not very good but my personal favorite and more people need to try is Lee Kum Kee. Hands down the BEST chili oil I've ever used https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lee-Ku...IwQAvD_BwE

Same, during covid I started cooking alot of Asian foods and tried a ton of different oils. Found Fly by jing from tiktok ads and liked it but it over powers most foods so tried Lee Kum Kee usually found in Asian grocery for like $4 and haven't turned back

I have not had this, but I think it's probably much better than Lao gan ma based on the ingredients listed. So I certainly will try. The others mentioned by others, Xiang La wang and Lee Kun Kee, are different style. Between them, Xiang La wang is much better than Lee Kim Kee; the latter is too oily and tastes like chemicals.

You can buy like half a gallon of lao ga ma at 99ranch/hmart/great wall for $7. I bought this at Costco and it was awful. It sat for a month and Costco marked it down to $2. It doesn't help that the container leaks.

I wouldn't trust anything from China. You can make this yourself with organic crushed chili flakes and olive oil just mix the two and put it in the microwave till you start hearing it sizzle take it out and stir it up. Don't let it get over Brown or it will taste terrible.

It's not really that good. Having lived near where Szechuan is, the one with the angry lady on it is way better.Lao Gan Ma.
