Are there any concerns with fakes when buying these off Amazon? I know that's a problem with a lot of other types of items, but have only recently gotten into higher end knives, so I'm not so sure.

i think a lot of that comes from store fronts selling instead of sold by amazon. with that said this knife is stamped and not forged. in this price range i'd still recommend a mercer renaissance or genesis while everybody else is gonna say victorinox fibrox.

Keep in mind that the Gourmet series is their bottom of the barrel. This knife doesn't have any of the redeeming qualities that their classic/ikon stuff has. I bought a full Gourmet set as a gift and after seeing how they held up even after a few weeks, I felt bad that I gifted them.

I can't recommend this knife at $60 or even $45. Spend half of that on something like a Mercer/etc... and still get a higher quality piece.

Honestly 60 for just the chef knife is kind of a ripoff. I picked up the full set that I gifted, with wooden block, for like $100 from HomeGoods. (Yep, these are low enough quality to pop up there)

I'm shocked that they put their name on these.

!00% Agreed. Stamped, lower grade steel and cheap, uncomfortable handle construction. Just not worth it and a poor use of the Wusthof name.

The Zwilling 4 star can frequently be found found for $50 or $60 on sale andis much better. You can find the Santoku knife for that price right now and will serve the same purpose for most people: https://www.zwilling.com/us/zwill..._four-star

Even the Victorinox is a better deal at its now higher $40 price:

Junk.

Either get a real forged Wusthof knife, or just get a cheap $9.99 stamped knife.

I can't believe Wusthof would allow its great name to be put on such a junk knife. Really dilutes the value of the brand.
